Opportunities to Serve and Grow
At Bridge of Hope, we believe that as you serve with us, you will have a greater understanding of our community. AND you will give our community a better understanding of what God's doing in you. We look forward to working with you!
Volunteer Tutors Needed
Volunteer tutors are needed for the following timeslots for the school year:
- Adults:Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 10am–12:30pm
- K-8 Students:Mondays, Wednesdays 1:30-5:30pm, Saturdays 10am-1pm
You do not need to volunteer for all hours or even weekly. Let us know your interest and availability, and we will create a schedule that works for you.
Submit to our Big Five:When tutors BELIEVE this about themselves and their students, healthy student-tutor rapport is established, and students and tutors are able to grow together. All of our students have something to teach us!
- God made me unique
- I have strengths
- I have weaknesses
- I have something to learn
- I have something to teach
Be Flexible:Urban students have complicated lives, and schedules vary.Your willingness to chip in and do alternate tasks when scheduled students are absent helps us to maintain momentum.
Encourage, Don’t Criticize:You will likely encounter priorities that are different from your own. That’s okay. It’s best to dig deeper and discover why the student has chosen those priorities.Often you will develop a deep respect for their choices when you take the time to discover WHY they do what they do.Try to leave stereotypes at the door.

Help with Building and Grounds Maintenance
Our facility is a 12,000 square foot former school annex which now houses laundry facilities, showers, a kitchen, classrooms, the hang out room, offices, a bicycle shop, a hydroponics center, and much more. We would greatly appreciate whatever talents and skills you may have, including plumbing, electrical, cleaning, painting and maintaining the facility.
Work in the Community Gardens
We grow a lot of our own vegetables, and also grow vegetables to share with the community. Additionally, we are using the gardens as a training grounds for learning aquaponics, greenhouse management, and growing organic produce. Through our partnership with Good Life Growing, some of the produce is sold through area restaurants and community garden stands. Profits go to our job training program. If you would like to volunteer in this vital program, let us know.
Currently, we could use volunteers to assist with data entry.
Bridge of Hope offers some internship opportunities. If you are interested, please contact us. Find out more.
